Katakolon is a village on the southern coast of the Peloponnese in Greece - Sparta. It's there because it is accessible from a boat (using lighters) and there's a bus to Olympia, the ancient site of massive temples, baths and running tracks. This village itself does well from cruise passengers but the half hour bus ride to Olympia tells a different story for those living away from the small port. Greece is still paying for lying its way into the Euro - there seems to little EU money in this rural patch. The only things that grow are olives and some tall grass-like things which might be weeds. S till, there are lots of olives and therefore lots of olive oil.
